HOPE IN CHRIST

Life in this world often makes us feel tired and lose hope. Economic conditions, family problems, illnesses, or failures can hit us so hard that we feel there is no way out. Sometimes the difficulties and problems of life make us lose hope. However, as believers, we have an unshakable source of hope, which is Jesus Christ.

The letter of 1 Peter is addressed to the congregation who at that time were experiencing continuous hardships. They were experiencing persecution carried out by the Roman Empire against Christians. History shows that some Roman Emperors cruelly oppressed, persecuted, and even brutally killed Christians. Not to mention the hatred and unfair treatment from the leaders and the society where they lived. They were politically, economically, and socially oppressed. Danger and death always threatened. What advice did the Apostle Peter give to them? In 1 Peter 1:3, the Apostle Peter reminds that the resurrection of Christ is the basis of our hope. Not only hope for eternal life, but also hope for God's presence in the midst of the difficulties we face now.

We are reminded that Christ not only died for our sins, but He also rose so that we may have a new life, full of hope and purpose. Hope in Christ is never in vain because it is based on God's eternal and unchanging promises. In the midst of difficult life we are going through, there is always true hope in the Lord Jesus. So, do not give up and do not despair.
