FASTING IS A KUKEHENDAKI

Baca: Isaiah 58: 1-12

Isn't It! Fasting is a Kukehendaki, is that you may unlock the shackles of the shackles of despotism, and to let go of the rope-rope yoke, that thou mayest liberty Cassandra and break every yoke ... (Isaiah 58: 6)

Bacaan tahunan: 1 Samuel 21-24

What do you think of when hearing the word "fast"? I instantly imagine not eating and drinking in particular, accompanied by prayers that the people are more "powerful" than usual. How should we fast?
The Bible record what God wills when his people fasting. Uphold the truth, compassionate to fellow (v. 6-7). Not doing that is incriminating one another, much less harm (paragraph 9). Restraint not to enjoy what you want yourself, but gave it to meet the needs of people who are powerless (v. 10). How the Lord be-rang when his people run fast as just a mere ritual, and demanding God to answer prayer because they felt it was duty requested (section 1-3). Looks to me like they are looking for and humbled himself before God, but ordinary, they are not afraid to do what is evil, as if God did not exist (verses 4-5).
The Lord promised to accompany, we satisfy the needs, even when in our fast ladies of our part to meet the needs of others (v. 11). That attitude is said to be "building ruins" that was a long time could not inhabited (verse 12). Compassion can penetrate the hearts until they can also recognize a life pleasing to God. How nice if we took the time to pray and fast run it as God wills. We helped to grow more and more love and more rely on him; a fellow has brought more and more know him through our love to them. --AMS
