DIVINE ENCOUNTERS

Baca: Acts 8:26-40

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means "queen of the Ethiopians"). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, (Acts 8:26-27a)

I am often amazed by the vendors of food or merchandise. They know that not everyone who offered to buy them. However, no weary yet they continue to sell in the belief that once upon a time there will be an interested and buying. This is in contrast with one of the reasons that are owned by Christians in refusing to share the Good News. They are afraid of rejection and therefore they choose not to go and preach it.

We may not ever expect to have people like the eunuch of Ethiopia is. He was on his way as he read the scroll of Isaiah. The Word of God and the Holy Spirit to do miraculous work in silence. He is expecting someone to explain the meaning of that Word. Yes, he is like a fish searching for fishermen! When Philip went to meet him, he was confronted with a relatively easy task. Philip, like insert the hook into the fish's mouth dropped open. An opportunity not always available, but if he is reluctant to leave then this opportunity will be passed.

Very likely there were people who were waiting for our meeting with the divine. There are people who are very ready to listen to Gospel and give an appropriate response. Maybe that is one opportunity that only we can get it when we want to go. So, obey, and go! Pray that we find the divine encounters that He has prepared. - PBS
