BECOME A "BRIDGE"

Baca: LUKE 5:27-32

Bacaan tahunan: 1 Chronicles 18-21

When moving to a new place, sometimes we will look for people who come from that new place. From that person, we get a lot of information about the place such as: conditions, habits, culture, and others. We can also be introduced to the people there so that we do not have difficulty in interacting. This person has become a "bridge" for us.

After Levi, a tax collector, followed Jesus, he held a great feast for Jesus. Levi must be grateful that Jesus was pleased to call him, an outcast, so out of joy, he held a feast. The interesting thing is that he did not only invite Jesus, but there were also his old friends, fellow tax collectors and sinners, who joined in the meal.

Levi has given himself as a "bridge" for many tax collectors and sinners to meet Jesus through that meal. Surely it is not easy for the marginalized people because of their status, to relate to Jesus. And it turns out that this became a mockery to the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who thought that Jesus was not worthy to eat with them.

Around us, there are many people who do not yet know Jesus, are embarrassed, afraid, or do not know how to get to know Jesus. They are waiting for someone to help them. Let us who have known Him, make ourselves available to become a "bridge" for them to meet and get to know Jesus, by telling them about the love of Christ. --ANT/www.renunganharian.net
