Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters (Colossians 2:23)
Bacaan tahunan: Job 35-37
There is a Hebrew word that interesting, that is avodah, which literally means "work". This word refers to the activities of a person in the world of business, industry, agriculture, and so on. Interestingly, the same word is also used for activities serving and sacrificing in the Temple Bible Allah.Di, avodah translated "work" in certain parts and "worship" on the other. Activity in the world of work and in the Temple for the Hebrew people is an act with the same nature, that is worship to God. In other words, one's work is a form of worship, not just self-actualization or service for others.
The same truth echoed very strongly in the words of Paul, "Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as unto the Lord and not unto men." In this passage Paul is teaching the church about how to live a new life (article 3) that embody the virtue of Christ's Person (art. 1) and fullness in Him (chapter 2). Every believer is encouraged to do everything in my life-attending, husband and wife, parent-child, master-servant "in the name of the Lord Jesus", for the sake and for Christ (verse 17).
Whatever was or will we do today, let's think about how we can do it for the sake and for Christ. What difference does emerge with a new attitude? Use every opportunity today to make your meetings and activities as an avodah (worship) are great for God - Joo
